17 Noida women raise complaints of harassment, abuse, dowry

The woman had not filed a police case, fearing that her identity would be released.
NOIDA: A 23-year-old woman being blackmailed by her partner was among the 17 women who interacted with district magistrate Suhas LY on Thursday to raise their complaints and grievances about harassment, violence, abuse and other issues faced by women.
The woman, who works at a private company in Noida, told the DM that over the past month, her colleague and partner had been threatening that he will release images of her online.
The woman had not filed a police case, fearing that her identity would be released. Officials said the DM asked police on Thursday to take up the matter and investigate discreetly.
"During the dedicated initiative for women, 17 matters related to sexual violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment at workplace, dowry violence and family dispute were raised with the DM. As most of the cases were related to domestic violence, the DM called the station in-charge from the women's police station in Noida for a better follow-up," district probation officer Atul Sony said on the interaction held at the Collectorate Office in Noida.
He added that police complaints had been filed across stations in the district in some of the cases, but a few others were brought to their notice for the first time.
Under the initiative, called 'Haq Ki Baat Jiladhikari Ke Saath', the DPO said another woman told them that her domestic violence case had been resolved after counseling from the One Stop Centre For Women in the district.
