Punjab government on Thursday said that it will be restoring the security cover of the 424 VIPs.

The Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government told this to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which was hearing a petition by former minister OP Soni, who is among the 424 VIPs whose security cover was curtailed.

This comes only five days after the murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala. Notably, it was only a day before the murder that his security cover was curtailed.

Earlier, the Punjab & Haryana High Court has asked the AAP government why the security of Moose Wala was reduced and information leaked. The High Court had asked the government to reply by June 2.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Chief Minister met his party chief Arvind Kejriwal at his residence in the national capital today amid the criticism that his government is facing following the murder of Moose Wala.

In related development, Moose Wala's family has written to union home minister Amit Shah for a probe by a central agency into his murder. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat today met Moose Wala's father and confirmed the development.
