Simha on Wednesday alleged that the writers who have withdrawn their works from textbooks are influenced by
Congress.
It is part of a toolkit being used defame the BJP government, he said. Questioning their motive, he said some of the writers who have not produced anything creative for over a decade have also claimed they will withdraw their works.
Asserting that BJP will not be troubled by the development, he said some of the writers who have taken help from Congress are now paying it back. He called the writers as lacking in intellect. They could not win over the right activists and hence have started a new drama, he contended.
“During Congress regime, writer Barguru Ramachandrappa headed textbook revision panel had dropped one poem by poet laureate Kuvempu. We have added three more this time. It is former CM BS Yediyurappa who made Kuvempu’s works as the state anthem and farmers’ anthem,” he said. He said the controversy will affect he academic activities, which the writers should consider.
Meanwhile, former CM DV Sadanandagowda asked the writers to suggest remedial measures to the government instead of creating hurdles. “The government has not twisted facts or promoted one school of thought. Still if they have concerns, they should correct the government,” he said.
‘Remove Chakrathirtha’ The district unit of
Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Karnataka State Backward Classes Forum, Kannada Sahitya Kalakuta jointly demanded that the state government sack Rohith Chakrathirtha from the state textbook revision committee.
They said they will protest in the city on Thursday to demand that the state government act against MES activists who attacking a wedding procession in Belagavi for playing Kannada songs. Mysuru Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Maddikere Gopal said KSP was the first to adapt ‘Jayabharatha Jananiya Thanujathe’ by Kuvempu as its ‘Naadageethe’ in 1924. The state government declared it as Nadageethe on January 6, 2004. He also accusing Chakrathirtha of insulting poet laureate Kuvempu and his works.
State Backward Classes Forum president KS Shivaram also appealed to the state government to file a criminal case against Chakratheertha for insulting Kuvempu.
