Gumla: The
Gumla district administration would plant one lakh fruit saplings under the theme of ‘Jeevan Sankalp’ to mark the
World Environment Day on June 5.

Hemant Sati said, “The World Environment Day will be observed with a pledge of ‘Jeevan Sankalp’ to preserve the environment through participation by all the stakeholders of a society. The importance of plants to mitigate the adverse impact of
greenery house gases, check soil erosion and repleneshing the oxygen level in atmosphere will be highlighted.”
The administration will plant one lakh fruit saplings of mango, guave and lemon on the premises of government offices, schools and colleges, hostels, community health centres,
Anganwadi centres, and public land. The district-level plantation programme will begin from Telgaon village. Representatives from educational institutions, government departments, besides the public would participate in the mega plantation drive, he added.
