Sarma on Wednesday said the northeast region along with other parts of the country has seen a massive change in terms of infrastructure development and decrease in incidents of violence by extremists in the last eight years under the rule of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi.
Addressing the media here at the BJP’s state headquarter in Guwahati, Sarma said, “The country has seen a revolutionary change particularly in terms of development in the eight-year tenure of
PM Modi.” He claimed that extremist violence decreased by 75% and casualty/ injury of security force personnel decreased by at least 60% in the northeast in the last eight years under the “dynamic rule” of PM
Modi.
Moreover, he said the withdrawal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 from the region, except a few areas, is a remarkable development in the region that took place under the NDA rule. The peace agreements with the rebel outfits like National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) have created an atmosphere of peace in the region, he added.
Congratulating Modi on the successful completion of eight years, he said the BJP government has always emphasised on the all-round development of the last man of the society and accordingly worked to uplift them.
“Anatodaya mantra of Deendayal Upadhaya has been the base rule of the Modi government. It has worked to ensure equal right and equal opportunity to the last man of the society,” he added.
The CM further highlighted the various welfare schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He further hailed the Modi government’s effort in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic situation and decision to abrogate Article 370.
