15-year-old girl tries to kill self after rape in Ranchi

Ranchi: An incident related to rape of a 15-year-old girl came to light in Ranchi on Wednesday after the victim consumed poison to commit suicide.
Police said the girl has accused a 45-year-old man of forcibly taking her to his home and committing the crime after tying her limbs. She was going for tuition after school when the incident took place.
The assailant left the victim after threatening to defame her before society and also kill her if she told anyone about the incident. The victim kept quiet for seven months out of fear but when she knew about her pregnancy she decided to write a suicide note narrating her tale and consumed poison.
The girl was rushed to a private hospital where doctors managed to save her life.
Headquarters DSP Praveen Kumar Singh said, “A case has been registered on the basis of the statement of the girl. The accused is absconding after the incident became public while efforts are on to nab him.”
