Berhampur: To tide over the shortage of doctors, the government has appointed 35 PG students at
MKCG Medical College and Hospital here in different clinical and non-clinical departments. They will be posted in the medical college till June 30, 2023, an office order issued on Tuesday said.
Twenty-six doctors are pursuing their post graduation in the medical college, five and three doctors, who have completed their post graduation from Vimsar, Burla and
SCB Medical College, Cuttack, respectively, have been posted here. One doctor is from the Rayagada district headquarters hospital.
The doctors in the discipline of general surgery, orthopaedics, anaesthesia and radiology will manage the trauma care facility as and when required, the order stated. “Healthcare facilities will improve in the medical college and hospital with the posting of resident doctors,” said
Abani Kant Mishra, principal, MKCG Medical College. He said the government would post some more doctors against the vacant posts.
Out of 416 sanctioned posts of doctors in different categories, 113 are vacant. The vacant posts included professor (four) and associate professors (30).
