The 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 185.24 points at 55381.17

Analysts see 15,900 to continue to pose as the immediate resistance.
NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

Aro Granite Industries(up 1.92%), Coal India(up 1.63%), Lexus Granito(up 1.37%), MOIL(up 0.40%), KIOCL(up 0.30%) and NMDC Ltd(up 0.28%) stood among the top gainers.

Oriental Trimex(down 4.06%), Pokarna(down 3.34%), Dvpt Corporation(down 1.35%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 1.15%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 0.73%), Ashapura Minechem(down 0.64%) and 20 Microns(down 0.62%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 61.8 points down at 16522.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 185.24 points at 55381.17.

JSW Steel(up 3.31%), Coal India(up 1.63%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.37%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.26%), HDFC(up 1.0%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.99%), Tata Steel(up 0.75%), Grasim Industries(up 0.56%), NTPC(up 0.51%) and ITC(up 0.44%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Auto(down 3.73%), Enterprises(down 3.53%), Tech Mahindra(down 2.85%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.82%), Britannia Industries(down 2.65%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.61%), Nestle India(down 2.54%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 2.48%), HCL Technologies(down 2.2%) and Hindustan Unilever(down 1.9%) closed in the red.
