Construction work being carried out at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium drain in Patna on Tuesday
PATNA: Managing director of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (BUIDCO) Dharmendra Singh has asked the officials concerned to ensure that no new road is dug up for laying the sewerage line for sewage treatment plant (STP) under Namami Gange project in view of upcoming monsoon season.
He said the executive engineers have been asked to wind up the work and ensure that all the dug-up roads are filled with cavity and made motorable before they are handed over to the road construction department for restoration. “The laying of sewage line will commence after the monsoon. As far as construction of standalone STP is concerned, the work will continue. The STP of Pahadi zone 5 is at the final stage and will be completed in June,” he said.
According to a BUIDCO official, construction of sewer network of Karmalichak, Saidpur and Pahadi zone 5 STPs will be completed after the monsoon. These three STPs will ensure proper treatment of household sewerage and prevent flow of untreated water into the Ganga. The treated water will be used for irrigation purpose.
BUIDCO executive officer Sanjay Kumar Mishra said around 91% of physical work to lay down the sewage line has been completed in Pahadi zone-5 and 97-98% in Saidpur and Karmalichak zones. “Of 104-km-long sewage network of Pahadi zone-5, work on laying down pipeline for 94.72-km has been completed and around 116.56-km has been covered in Saidpur, out of 117-km-long network. In Karmalichak, the physical work on construction of 90.59-km-long network has been completed,” he said.
Karmalichak STP has the capacity to treat 37 million litres of waste water a day, while 60MLD each is the capacity of Pahadi zone 5 and Saidpur.
