GURUGRAM: A court in Gurugram on Tuesday allowed
Haryana Police to get a polygraph test done on suspended
IPS officer
Dheeraj Sethia in
Gujarat and submit the report by June 13, the next date of hearing. Sethia, one of the accused in a multi-crore heist case, had earlier urged the court to let him take the test in Haryana, while investigators wanted it to take place outside Haryana.
Additional session judge
Tarun Singal, however, turned down the suspended IPS officer’s request and directed the special task force (STF) of the state police probing the heist case to get the lie-detector test done in Gujarat’s Gandhi Nagar. Sethia, who had earlier given his consent for the polygraph test, did not appear before the court on Tuesday, citing health reasons.
During the hearing, the special task force (STF) of the state police argued that the polygraph test should be conducted outside Haryana because Sethia is an IPS officer of Haryana cadre.
“In Haryana, the polygraph test facility is available at the Police Training Centre in Madhuban, but, at present, doctors are not available there. We had also argued for conducting a test outside the state," said public prosecutor Jagbir Sehrawat said. “The STF will communicate with the Gandhi Nagar facility and get the test done before the next date of hearing on June 13.”
