13 cellphones found in jail, 4 inmates booked

Ludhiana: During a checking drive, the authorities recovered 13 cellphones from Ludhiana Central Jail, Tajpur Road. The Division 7 police lodged an FIR against four inmates on Monday.
Assistant jail superintendent Sarup Chand said, “We conducted a checking in the jail on Saturday and recovered nine cellphones from inmates Uday, Lakhbir Singh, Amanpreet Singh and Feroze Khan. Besides, four cellphones were found abandoned.”
Thereafter, the jail authorities lodged a complaint with the police.
ASI Bindar Singh said, “We will bring the accused on a production warrant for questioning to know how they managed to get cellphones inside.”
A case under the Prison Act has been registered.
