3 peddlers arrested with heroin, opium

Ludhiana: The STF, the anti-narcotic cell of Ludhiana city police and the Khanna cops arrested three drug peddlers in separate cases.
The Ludhiana unit of Special Task Force (STF) recovered 432g heroin from a car occupant on Tuesday. The recovered contraband costs Rs 2.16 crore in international market.
Accused Rohit, 27, a resident of Mohalla Peeru Banda, was arrested near Sandhu Nagar when he was commuting in his car.
Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge of Ludhiana STF, said, “The accused is unemployed and has been peddling drugs for the past few years. We have also seized his car used in smuggling drugs.”
In another case, the anti-narcotic wing of Ludhiana commissionerate arrested drug peddler Baldev Singh of Pratap Singh Wala with 1.10kg opium. Inspector Satwant Singh said the accused was caught from Ayali Khurd following a tip-off.
In the third case, Sadar Khanna police arrested a Rajasthan resident, Guddu Lal Gujar, with 1kg opium near Mandiala Kalan village on Tuesday. Sub-inspector Amritpal Singh, SHO of Sadar Khanna police station, said, “The accused has been into drug peddling for a long time. Earlier, he used to supply the contraband within Rajasthan, but recently he started smuggling to Punjab.”
