PM Modi launches 11th instalment of PM-Kisan

NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday released the 11th instalment of financial benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, worth around Rs 21,000 crore, to more than 10 crore beneficiary farmer families.
The scheme, launched in 2019, has, so far, benefited 11.78 crore landholder farmer families with majority of them getting most of the instalments. Under this flagship “income support” scheme for farmers, the Centre provides Rs 6,000 per annum in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each to all landholding farmer families in India.
After releasing the fresh instalments directly into the eligible farmers’ bank accounts at the ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ in Shimla, the PM also interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme in different states through video conference.
Earlier, only marginal and small farmers having landholding size of less than two hectares were eligible for benefits under the PM-Kisan. But later on May 31, 2019, all landholder farmer families, with certain exclusions, were made eligible to receive the benefits.
