Ranchi: The state unit of National Service Scheme (
NSS) located at the Ranchi University (RU) in coordination with the District Tobacco Control Cell formed Tobacco Control Club (TCC) in 25 colleges affiliated to the RU to curb the consumption of tobacco among the youths.
The programme, named as ‘Campus to Community’, will start from the campus and reach every community across the state.

Brajesh Kumar on Tuesday said, “We have been strategising the move for the past three months and started the initiative with 25 colleges. We plan to expand the drive to 103 units across educational institutions in the city till July, and 570 units across the state in the 2022 – 23 financial year.”
The club will organise awareness camps though cultural programmes, street plays, and workshops to generate awareness about the negative effects of tobacco amongst the targeted audience. Each unit will have 10 volunteers.
Doranda College, Women’s College,
Yogoda Satsang Mahavidyalaya, St. Xavier College, among others will be targeted.
