Elon Musk wants every Tesla employee to come back to the main company offices if they want themselves to be allowed to work remotely. The CEO gave, what can be termed as ‘ultimatum’, to all the Tesla employees as per a leaked email. In the email, Musk made it clear that a bare minimum of 40 hours-per-week work requirement means exactly that, and not an hour less. In case of exceptions, he said he will look into such cases directly.
Here’s an excerpt of the email, via @SamNissim on Twitter, which was also taken up by @WholeMarsBlog.
“Anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean minimum) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory workers.
If there are particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible, I will review and approve those exceptions directly. Moreover, the "office" must be a main Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties, for example being responsible for Fremont factory human relations, but having your office be in another state.
Thanks Elon”
Musk replied to @WholeMarsBlog, which confirms that he sent the email.

If this is how Musk has decided to deal with employees at Tesla, then it should make Twitter employees sit up and take notice too, no?
