APMA) elected Gurpargat
Singh Kahlon its president once again and the unanimous choice was declared on Tuesday in the
general house meeting. Earlier, there were reports that he will have opposition but, finally, all other candidates withdrew their nomination papers.
A statement issued from the APMA office suggests that the association’s general house had assembled on May 31 and
Gurpargat Singh Kahlon himself had president over the meeting as president. We welcomed all the members and the the general secretary briefed them on the organisation’s past activities, after which the new representatives were approved unanimously. Institute of Auto Parts and Hand Tools of Technology general manager Sanjeev Katoch and United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association former president Inderjit Singh Navyug, who were appointed presiding officer and election assistant, respectively, announced the results.
On May 27, the verification committee had received and scrutinised eight nomination papers and found all of those to be valid. However, on May 31, three of the nominees withdrew from the race. As a result, the five remaining candidates were elected unopposed for their seats and it made Gurpargat Singh Kahlon president once again. Sharanjit Singh waas elected vice-president, Daljit Singh general secretary, Balwinder Singh joint secretary, and Sohan Singh cashier. There were elected in the presence of MLA Kulwant Singh Sandhu.
