CHANDIGARH: The
Punjab Police on Wednesday reconstituted the special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Shubhdeep Singh alias
Sidhu Moose Wala in Jawaharke village of Mansa district on May 29 by gangsters.
The SIT would be chaired by inspector general of police (Punjab Armed Police) Jaskaran Singh, AIG anti-gangster task force (AGTF) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan, SSP Gaurav Toora, SP (investigation) Dharamveer Singh, DSP(D) Vishwajit Singh and in-charge CIA staff Prithvipal Singh.
The SIT will function under the overall supervision of the additional director general of police (ADGP) AGTF Parmod Ban.
Inspector general of police Bathinda range Pradeep Yadav had earlier constituted the three-member SIT under the supervision of Mansa SSP.
The orders issued by the DGP say that the SIT can co-opt any other police officer and take the assistance of any expert or officer, with the prior approval of the DGP.
The SIT has been mandated to conduct the investigation on day-to-day basis, arrest the perpetrators of the murder and on completion of the probe, the report be submitted in the trial court.
