Amritsar: Man dies of bullet injuries following tiff with two youths

Ranjit Singh, the elder brother of Lovepreet, said his brother was innocent.
AMRITSAR: A man died of bullet injuries while his friend was critical after they had a scuffle with two unidentified youths in Amritsar on Wednesday.
Following the incident, the accused fled from the spot.
Lovepreet Singh and Gursimran Singh reportedly had a heated verbal duel with two youths that spiralled into a "gun battle" between them.
Lovepreet and Gursimran suffered bullet injuries in the incident. The injured youths were taken to the Amandeep Hospital where Lovepreet Singh breathed his last.
Ranjit Singh, the elder brother of Lovepreet said that his brother was an employee of HDFC bank.
“My brother was a wrestler and a postgraduate. He was innocent. He didn’t have anything to do with the assailants or had any enmity with them. He was just accompanying his friend,” Ranjit said.
Sources said that police had recorded the statement of Gursimran who was in his senses and was able to talk. Sources also alleged that all of them had weapons.
Harjit Singh, an eyewitness said, “I heard the gunshots and panicked. The boys fled to different directions. I think three to four bullets were fired.”
Amritsar police commissioner Arun Pal Singh said the accused had been identified while police were recording the statements for the registration of FIR. He said the fight broke out between the two groups after one of the groups asked others to delete the photographs of a girl from their mobile phone
