History taught to students must be based on facts, says Yaduveer

Mysuru: Scion of the Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Tuesday stated that history should be taught to school students as it is. “It should be based on facts,” he stressed.
Speaking to reporters, Yaduveer stated that the students should be taught history without changing it according to the left or right ideology. “We should teach correct history to the students,” he said.
Meanwhile, former CM and MP DV Sadananda Gowda stated that he will not defend Rohith Chakratirtha, but said he has not committed any mistake. “There are no errors in the textbook review exercises. Earlier there were seven learning items on Kuvempu which has now been increased to ten,” he said. He alleged that no government gave such huge respect to Kuvempu through textbooks.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists held a protest against Rohith Chakratirtha in Mysuru. They demanded immediate action against Chakratirtha, and suspension of the review committee. They urged the state government to continue the old syallabus.

Poet withdraws poem from Class 9 Kannada textbook
Hassan-based writer and activist Roopa Hassan withdrew her poem from Class 9 Kannada textbook. In her letter to primary and secondary education minister BC Nagesh, she stated that in the Class 10 Kannada books, no poems or articles of any woman writers are included. “There was no representation for women in the review committee either. It is an insult to the entire women fraternity,” she alleged.
She alleged that the textbook review is not carried out according to the principles of Textbook Framework 2005 and the principles like gender equality, non violence, social justice, and fundamental rights have been ignored.
