Mangaluru: The case concerning Malali masjid was heard at the
JMFC on Tuesday. Advocate Chidananda
Kedilaya stated, “We have requested that a survey of the disputed site be conducted through the court commissioner, with assistance from the archaeological department.”
The objections will be heard on Wednesday.
Dhananjaya and others filed a petition about a month ago, claiming that the structure of the masjid is similar to that of the temple and demanding an investigation by the archaeological and other departments concerned.
Court injunctionHe stated that the court had issued an injunction against the mosque authorities and refrained anyone from demolishing or damaging the structure until the next hearing date.
Following that, mosque representatives appeared and raised numerous objections under the Places of Worship Act and the Wakf Act, advocate Kedilaya said.
It may be recalled that controversy erupted after a temple-like structure was noticed during the demolition as part of the renovation of a mosque in Malali near Ganjimutt on the city’s outskirts in April.
