Ludhiana: A day the after murder of the noted
Punjabi singer and
Congress leader
Sidhu Moose
Wala, the local unit of Congress has opened a front against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Led by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) general secretary Parminder Mehta, the party workers staged a protest against AAP and chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday. Congress workers also staged a “maun vrat” against the state government near the statue of Mahatama Gandhi installed outside municipal corporation (MC) office.
Addressing the workers, Mehta said, “AAP and Bhagwant Mann just for the sake of getting cheap publicity got the news of withdrawal of security of Moose Wala published, which led to his murder. The inexperience of AAP and cheap publicity stunts is pushing Punjab towards terrorism. Another cause of concern is that modern weapons have been used by the assailants to kill Sidhu, which means that the gangsters, anti social elements have access to such deadly weapons which they can use to execute even bigger terror attacks in the coming days.”
Mehta also added, “Punjabis had voted for AAP for change not for bringing such situation under which terrorism again spreads its wings in Punjab. It is very shameful that despite CM Mann having home ministry with him, he is unaware that before someone’s security is withdrawn, a report is taken from the intelligence agencies instead of curtailing the security right away. It is not the first time that someone’s security has been curtailed, but its for the first time in history that details were made public for cheap publicity. Therefore, it would be in the best interest of Punjab if CM quits the charge of Home ministry and the DGP too is replaced at the earliest.”
