Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra on Monday said that he intends to open a fitness centre after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee gave health tips and dietary advise to a party worker.

"I am now planning to open a fitness training centre for all Trinamool leaders and workers as per the directions given by Mamata Banerjee," Madan Mitra told India Today/Aaj Tak.

Taking a dig at the BJP government, Mitra said, "And we have to do kapalbhati [a known breathing exercise] because the kapal [fate] of Bengal is very unfortunate as Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are sitting there, and only Kapalbhati can save us. Anulom vilom can save us."

His remarks came after Mamata Banerjee was seen advising a visibly overweight Jhalda municipality chairman on how to get rid of his belly bulge.

She even warned the TMC leader of possible health hazards, including heart block, and instructed him on the correct way to do 'pranayama' (breathing exercises).

"Why do you have such a belly bulge? And the way it's growing, you will definitely have a [heart] blockage," she told Suresh Kumar Agarwal during an administrative review meeting in Purulia.

Agarwal then told the chief minister that though he weighs around 125 kg and consumes lots of 'pakoras' (fritters), he is absolutely fit and without illness.

He also said that he exercises every day for nearly one-and-a-half hours.

"Didi, I exercise for nearly one and a half hours everyday... But I like to have pakoras. I am absolutely ok. I am non-diabetic. I have no blood pressure problems and I do not need to consume any medicine," he said.

The Jhalda municipality chairman even demonstrated before Banerjee how he performs 'pranayama' and claimed that he did 'kapalabhati' at least 1,000 times a day.

Banerjee, who wore an amused expression, then advised the TMC leader to stop eating pakoras.

The 62-year-old Agarwal later told PTI that he would "definitely try" to follow the party supremo’s advice.
