Mysuru / Bengaluru: The iconic Mysuru Palace will be the venue for the main event for the International Day of Yoga (
IDY) on June 21, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event will be attended by around 75,000 yoga enthusiasts.

PM Modi will perform yoga in front of the world-famous palace to launch the IDY. This is the first time the PM is attending IDY celebrations in a southern state. Other details of the event will be finalised in the coming days, Joshi told reporters after inspecting the venue. He said the PM's schedule will be finalised soon.
On Monday, PM Modi held a video conference with chief minister Basavaraj
Bommai to discuss the preparations for the event. "All the preparations have been completed and we have finalised Mysuru Palace premises as the venue. I am looking forward to your arrival,” Bommai told the Prime Minister.

As the upcoming 8th IDY coincides with the platinum jubilee of Indian independence. the centre plans to observe IDY at 75 iconic sites across the country. This year, IDY will be focused on branding India on the global stage.
'Yoga for Humanity' has been chosen as the theme of the eighth International Day of Yoga to be organised in India and across the globe on June 21. The theme has been selected after much deliberation and consultation and it appropriately portrays how yoga served humanity in alleviating sufferings during the peak of the pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the theme in his ‘Maan Ki Baat' broadcast on Sunday.
