Optus subscribers can now access the English Premier League and the FA Women’s Super League in Australia months after striking a million-dollar deal for the exclusive broadcast rights to the competition until 2028 and 2024 respectively.

Optus is increasing the monthly subscription fee for non-customers to $24.99 from 1 August while customers will be charged for the first time at $6.99 per month.

According to reports, Optus is believed to have spent an estimated $600 million to extend their broadcast arrangement with the Premier League for additional six years.

Earlier this year, Optus aired Euro 2020 at the height of the lockdown. The event saw Lionel Messi and Argentina broke a 28-year drought at the Copa America.

The Euros final between Italy and England was the largest sports streaming event in Australia this year, claims Optus, resulting in almost one million customers tuning in with a massive 116 million minutes across the match.

This surpassed all three State of Origin games, the AFL grand final and any individual event of the Tokyo Olympic Games, according to data provided by OzTam.
