MUMBAI: The daily tally of
Covid cases in the state hit a three-month high on Sunday with 550 fresh cases reported, also its fourth consecutive day of over 500 cases in a day. Mumbai too clocked 375 fresh cases, a 14% rise in new detections over Saturday. One Covid death was reported from
Solapur on Sunday. The state's Sunday tally was the highest single-day detection since March 1 (675 cases). For the city, the detection was the most in 108 days. Active cases in the city crossed the 2,000-mark, in the state it was close to 3,000 (2997).
City hospitalisations were in two digits for the sixth day. On Sunday, 17 were admitted to Covid-19 facilities. Dr Smita Chavan, deputy dean of
SevenHills Hospital, said they have 25 patients in the wards and 10 in ICU. However, patient load is nowhere close to volumes of January and February.
