Masked man tries to break open ATM

Coimbatore: A masked man attempted to break open a State Bank of India’s automatic teller machine (ATM) at Maruthur near Karamadai on early Sunday morning.
Around 1.30am on Sunday, the unidentified person wearing a monkey cap entered the ATM centre at a commercial complex and tried to break it open. Within minutes, the ATM’s alarm went off. Soon after the man left the spot, a police officer said.
Residents who lives near the complex informed the Karamadai police after hearing the alarm. Police reached the spot, where bank officials were also present. Police collected CCTV footage of the incident from bank officials and began the inquiry. Police are also scanning CCTV footage from buildings near the ATM centre to identify the miscreant.
Police registered a case and formed a special team to nab the man.
