Uttar Pradesh: BSP won’t contest Rampur bypoll, nor support anyone

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will not contest the bypoll for the Rampur parliamentary seat. It will also not support any party on this seat, said BSP chief Mayawati. The decision was taken during the two-day review meeting of the party’s UP unit which concluded on Sunday.The party, however, will contest the bypoll for the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat with full might, banking heavily on the hope that a change in the mindset of ‘Muslim voters’ will bring a good fortune to the party in UP. Byelections for the Rampur and Azamgarh seats will be held on June 23.

Lucknow: Addicted to online game, minor steals Rs 4.5L from house

Lucknow police on Sunday arrested a man and his minor aide who first made a 14-year-old boy addicted with an online age-restricted game and then also made him steal cash from his house for the game’s advanced stages in Wazirganj area.The minor victim was also made to sell his valuables and steal Rs 4. 5 lakh from the locker of his house over a period of one month. When his father grew suspicious, he reached the police station to lodge an FIR and that’s how the matter came to light.

LMC to seize pooch sans licence

If you have not taken the licence for your pet dog or haven’t got it renewed after expiry then get it made on priority. Failure to do so could invite a fine of Rs 5,000, or worse, your pet may be taken away by civic authorities.Lucknow Municipal Corporation has decided to conduct a doorto-door survey of pet owners from June 1. It will penalise those who do not have the licence of their pet dogs. Eight LMC teams with four members each will conduct the door-to-door survey. As per LMC records, there are around 4,000 petdogs in the city. Owners of only about 2,500 pet dogs took or renewed the license last year.
