Cow gores vegetable vendor in Vadodara's Navayard market

VADODARA: The stray cattle menace continued in the city with one more person suffering injuries on Sunday. Ataa Sultan, a vegetable vendor, was attacked by a cow in Navayard area in the morning. The cow flung him into the air and fled from the spot, leaving the passers-by shocked.
“Sultan has suffered injuries. Who will take the responsibility for this? The VMC or stray cattle owner?” questioned a relative of Sultan. The CCTV footage shows the cow attacking Sultan from behind when he was working near his stall.
On May 12, a student had lost his eye after being attacked by a stray cow in the city. Mayor Keyur Rokadia had met 18-year-old Henil Patel, a student of MSU, and also said that the crackdown on stray cattle menace would continue. The VMC has been impounding stray cattle in different areas but that has not stopped the attacks.
On May 26, a 57-year-old security guard was attacked by a stray cow in Nizampura area of the city. He had suffered injuries in his forearm.
Some days ago, a 22-year-old man had an accident when a stray cow ran into him on Sama-Savli Road. The stray cattle attacks have been causing embarrassment to the VMC and even ministers have raised this issue in the past.
