NEW DELHI: The wife of a
judicial officer allegedly died by
suicide in
south Delhi's Rajpur Khurd on Saturday, police said, adding that three
suicide notes recovered from the spot said no one was responsible for her death.
Around 10.30 pm on Saturday, the judicial officer, a resident of the Saket area, informed police that his 42-year-old wife, a lawyer, went to Malviya Nagar market around 11.30 am but didn’t return. A missing case was lodged at Saket police station.
Police spotted the woman boarding an autorickshaw in the CCTV footage of the area. "Staff traced the driver and he told that he dropped the woman at Rajpur Khurd in the Maidan Garhi area. This information was shared with her husband and he confirmed that his wife’s brother lives there," deputy commissioner of police (south) Benita Mary Jaiker said.
Then, the judicial officer, accompanied by the police staff, reached Rajpur Khurd's extension. "The house was found locked from inside. The door was opened after breaking an iron grill. Inside the room, the body of his wife was found hanging with a ceiling fan with a dupatta," the DCP said.
She further added that it was a vacant flat on the first floor. "Her brother's family lives on the second floor. Three suicide notes were also found near the body. She has clearly stated in the note that she does not hold anyone responsible. It is her decision and there is no other issue about anything else," she said adding that the body was shifted to AIIMS mortuary.
