DIBRUGARH: Exactly a month after the Lakhimpur Cancer Centre was inaugurated at the Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) in upper Assam's Lakhimpur district, two ceilings of the parking lot of the state-of-the-art cancer care facility collapsed on Saturday raising questions about the quality of construction.
On April 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Dibrugarh had inaugurated seven cancer care facilities in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur and Jorhat.
Lakhimpur deputy commissioner Sumit Sattawan on Sunday said the incident occured in the emergency parking lot of the Lakhimpur Cancer Centre around 7pm following a sudden storm in the area.
