THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The
Thiruvananthapuram police are set to initiate legal action against former
Poonjar MLA P C
George after he failed to appear before the police for interrogation on Sunday.
George, who was issued a notice to appear before assistant commissioner of police (Fort) in the capital at 11am on Sunday in connection with the probe into hate speech made by him in the capital, had refused to appear before the police. Instead, he was busy campaigning for the NDA candidate in Thrikkakara.
The police are of the view that George has violated the bail conditions by not appearing before it when asked to and have taken a legal opinion regarding the matter. The police will inform the court about the matter. George, who was jailed in
Poojappura central prison, was released on Friday evening after the high court granted him bail. He had to spend a day in jail, in connection with the hate speech.
Addressing a gathering at the Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelanam here last month, the former
MLA had stated that the tea served in restaurants run by Muslim community members were laced with drops that could cause impotence and that by sterilizing men and women, they were looking to wrest control of the country.
