Jamshedpur: A massive fire broke out at a tyre godown in
Mango on Saturday night causing panic among the residents living in the adjoining flats. The entire area, which is a residential colony, was engulfed in deep black smoke.
No casualty is reported in the incident, but it took about 18 hours for the 90 plus fire fighting crew members to douse the fire. In all, 16 fire extinguishing vehicles were pressed in to control the fire.
DC Vijaya Jadhav visited the site on Sunday to supervise the fire control exercise. The cause of the fire will be investigated, but keeping a tyre godown in the residential area is a violation of the
Jharkhand Municipal Act provisions, hence the owner of the godown is liable for action, the DC said. The godown owner,
Vinod Yadav, was not present at the site when fire control exercise was carried out. tnn
