GREATER NOIDA: The Gautam Buddh Nagar district RWA held a meeting with the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Meenakshi Katyayan and her team over the security and safety of sectors in
Greater Noida.
Some of the demands raised by the RWA body include illegal PG houses/hostels operating in
residential sectors, unverified international students in sectors, hotels/dhabas running till 12 midnight leading to waste spread, people consuming alcohol in cars along sector roadsides, steps/measures on crime against women, the occupation of
Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) occupying community centre of
Alpha 1 since past 3 years leading to its unavailability to the residents for routine functions and CCTV cameras at intersections.
Residents also demanded a new police post in Alpha 2.
The meeting, that was presided by NP Singh, president District Development Residents Welfare Association (DDRWA) where DCP Katyayan was the chief guest along with her entire team, including Mahendra Kumar (ACP), Anil Kumar (SHO), other staff and SHO Knowledge Park, was held in the community centre of Sector Alpha 1.
Many problems were raised by residents of the district in the meeting. Jitendra Bhati, vice president of DDRWA maintained that there’s a need to check the illegal paying guest houses and students’ hostels that are operating without verification in residential sectors. “Under the guise of students, various types of wrong activities are going while landlords in greed of money do not engage proper verification of the tenants. Due to this often, law and order situation arises affecting the sector and residential area,” said Bhati.
Secondly, due to the many higher educational institutions in Greater Noida, foreign students live in sectors without verification. “Many untoward activities keep happening in their vicinity where residents feel unsafe in the absence of their verification,” added Bhati.
Further, residents maintained that hotels and dhabas keep operating in the market area of the sectors till 12:00 midnight. “Due to this, the security of the sector is affected. We demand that the time to close the market should be fixed,” said NP Sing president DDRWA.
While DCP Katyayan assured increased patrolling of the residential sectors in the district and directed area chowki in-charges to carry out vendor and tenant verification under their areas/sectors, as regards PAC occupying the Sector Alpha 1 community centre, she assured the residents a solution to the problem soon. “I understand that residents need the community centre for their local marriage functions and other celebrations. It’s been long, near 3-years that the PAC has been occupying the community centre. I will talk to the local authority and find out a different location with their help for their relocation soon,” said Katyayan.
