Noida: Two held for celebratory firing at birthday party of friend

NOIDA: Police on Sunday arrested two persons involved in a celebratory firing during a friend’s birthday party. On Saturday, while the two persons fired in the air, a resident informed the cops.
During questioning, the accused allegedly told cops that they had broken into a flat a few days ago. While they did not find any cash, the men took a gun from the house.
The arrested persons have been identified as 22-year-old Abhishek Sharma and Abhishek Tyagi alias Lyle Tyagi (23), both residents of Sultanpur.
Vikas Kumar Jain, the SHO of Sector 126 said on May 21, Anil Goyal, a resident of Sector 128 had filed a complaint stating that his licenced revolver had been stolen. A case of theft was registered and a police team was formed to investigate it.
A week later when a police team were conducting patrolling during Operation Patal, a local informed the cops that some youths were celebrating a birthday and opening fire in the air at Pushta Road in Sector 128. Following the complaint, the cops reached the spot and detained four persons. They revealed that they had gathered to celebrate their friend Mohit’s birthday. Sharma and Tyagi joined them carrying a gun to show off.
“We questioned the two people they admitted that they were thieves and had stolen the revolver from a flat a few days ago," the SHO told TOI. They have been booked under IPC Section 380 (burglary) and sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. They were produced before a magistrate on Sunday that sent them to judicial custody.
