Andhra Pradesh government takes the concept of “revenge tourism” seriously

The Andhra Pradesh government has taken the concept of “revenge tourism” quite seriously, with the pandemic situation improving gradually. The government is trying to lure tourists who normally visit Sri Lanka or even China for pleasure trips or business deals, said G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Tourism.


Reddy said that they are trying to target tourists who visit these two countries due to the current delicate situation in Sri Lanka after the financial and political problems and the continuing limitations in China.


Revenge tourism is a condition wherein people are willing to break free from monotony of the pandemic and dull routine that has surfaced during the coronavirus emergency.


The Andhra Ministry has takenfew measures to open 20 desks in embassies in many countries from only four to correspond and cooperate with their equivalentsfor organizing destination events, festivals among others to attract more visitors.


Minister Reddy said that the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t vanished completely, even thoughthey have relaxedfew restrictions. Few other countries have also started different activities, and keeping them in mind, they are monitoring the situation closely.


Considering domestic tourism, Mr.Reddy said that the footfall is better in Srinagar and Kedarnath with rates of hotel room going up to Rs. 1.5 lakh per day in the Kashmir Valley. He said that they have set up a portal for keeping a check on tourists inKedarnathconsidering the fragile landscape and impending monsoon. However, people are visiting in large numbers.
