Over 58,000 kids take jabs in three days

Thiruvananthapuram: The vaccination campaign meant for children is evoking a good response, said health minister Veena George. In the last three days, 58,009 children have taken vaccination in the state, she added.
In the age group of 15-17 years, 12,106 children took vaccination and in the 12-14 years age category, 45,903 children took the jab in the state during the campaign.

Among this, 5,249 are first dose and 6,857 are second dose in the 15-17 years age category, and 35,887 first dose and 10,016 second dose in the 12-14 years age group.
The minister said the vaccination campaign will continue till May 28 and the children aged above 12 years should take the vaccination before the school reopening.
For the campaign, 1,440 vaccination centres are functioning, of which 801 centres are for children above the age group of 12 years and 350 centres are for children aged above 15 years.
Till date, 82% of the children in the age group of 15-17 years have taken the first dose and 54% have taken the second dose. Among children of age group 12-14 years, 48% have taken the first dose and 13% have taken the second dose vaccination. tnn
