Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday warned that if Covid-19 cases continue to rise, the government will have to consider imposing restrictions again. “If Covid-19 cases continue to increase rapidly, the state government will have to reconsider imposing some guidelines,” Pawar told mediapersons in Pune.
“Any change in guidelines or new restrictions will be considered only after adequate consultation is held with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Cabinet,” he added.
Maharashtra on Saturday reported 529 new Covid-19 cases, 330 of them being from Mumbai alone.
The state had recorded 536 new cases the day before. As many as 325 people were discharged from hospitals or recovered at home on Saturday, taking the count of recoveries to 77,34,764, leaving the state with 2,772 active cases.

So far, 10,43,108 people have been discharged post recovery in Mumbai, including 198 during the day, leaving the city with an active caseload of 1,929.

The BMC data showed while the recovery rate was 98 per cent, the case doubling rate was 3,138 days. The overall growth rate between May 21 and 27 stood at 0.022 per cent.
In Jalna, Health Minister Rajesh Tope told mediapersons, “In Beijing and Shanghai, new restrictions have come into
force. People have been warned to stay at home following rising cases.”
Maintaining that the number of cases has increased in Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Palghar, Tope said: “Although situation is not very alarming, we have to remain alert… Even if there are no guidelines, people should take self-precautionary measures. Wearing mask is compulsory and sanitisation must be done to avoid an increase in cases.”
