AURANGABAD: As many as 48 different government offices in Aurangabad district are currently operating from rented premises owing to insufficient infrastructure.
In order to address the issue the district administration is working to construct an administrative building for bringing all the important offices under one roof. Aurangabad is the administrative headquarters of Marathwada region and houses important regional and divisional offices.
In addition, initiatives like Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) — country’s first planned industrial city — is being developed for catering to the investors from across the globe.
Distrcit collector Sunil Chavan, while talking on the issue, said with construction of administrative premises at the recently cleared labour colony, all these offices will be brought on this campus and eventually will help save crores of rupees each year.
“Each year around Rs 2.5 crore is being paid towards rent for different government offices being operated from rented premises,” Chavan said.
The administration is working on bringing all the important government offices under one roof, which is a project coming up on the Labour Colony (Vishwas Nagar) land acquired by the administration.
“Having these offices under one roof and being situated in the vicinity of district collector’s office and divisional commissionerate will be of great convenience to the people coming to city for official work,” Chavan said.
