The Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has awarded a compensation of Rs 23.81 lakh to the parents of an engineering student who was killed in a road accident in 2018.In a recent order, a copy of which was made available on Saturday, MACT Chairman Abhay J Mantri ordered the offending vehicle's owner and insurer to jointly and severally make the payment to the claimants with seven per cent interest from the date of filing of the claim. Maharashtra health minister asks people to wear masks in districts where Covid-19 cases are going up

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope has said residents of districts in the state which are reporting an increase in daily coronavirus infections should start taking more caution and wear masks.Maharashtra on Saturday reported 529 new Covid-19 cases, but no virus-related death. Mumbai cruise drugs case: Dilip Walse Patil & Raut demand action against Sameer Wankhede

A day after the NCB gave a clean chit to actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan in the cruise drugs case, state home minister Dilip Walse Patil demanded action against former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede who had probed the case.“I feel action should be taken against Wankhede and it will be taken against him. When someone has framed an innocent person, he should be punished,” said Walse Patil on Saturday. “The Centre has taken note of what happened. I think they have given notice to take action against those concerned. ”

Arbaaz told NCB Aryan had advised him not to carry drugs to cruise party

Aryan Khan, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, had advised his friend Arbaaz Merchant not to carry drugs to the cruise party, the latter said in his statement to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).Merchant (26) was named as an accused in the chargesheet submitted against 14 persons in the cruise drugs case on Friday. It is alleged that 6gm of charas was recovered from Merchant after the October 2021 raid. He is currently out on bail.
