AGRA: A fresh plea was filed in Mathura court on Friday seeking “status quo” at the disputed site during the summer break of court and urging the appointment of two assistant advocate commissioners.
The plea was filed by
Narayani Sena national president,
Manish Yadav, who had earlier filed a petition in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court for early disposal of the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Masjid cases.
In his application, the petitioner stated that since summer vacation of the court is about to start, “the defendants will make every effort to destroy evidence during this period. In such a scenario, it is necessary to preserve the relics and prohibit defendants from erasing the religious artefacts and mythological symbols from the disputed Shahi Eidgah Masjid at the Krishna Janmabhoomi site. An order should be passed to maintain the status quo on the spot.”
On May 13, he filed a plea in the court of civil judge (senior division) in Mathura seeking appointment of an advocate commissioner to carry out an inspection of the mosque to confirm the “existence of Hindu artefacts and ancient religious inscriptions in the mosque premises”. This was a month after a Varanasi court had appointed advocate commissioner Ajay Kumar Misra for a video survey of the
Gyanvapi mosque that is adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple and directed him to submit a report.
So far, nearly a dozen cases have been filed in Mathura court on the matter. The first suit was filed two years ago on behalf of "Lord Shri Krishna Virajman"', through Ranjana Agnihotri, a Lucknow resident, and five others including a Delhi resident. The petition claimed that the mosque is built on Krishna Janmabhoomi. Thus, the petitioners have sought "ownership of the entire 13.37-acre land".
