Jaipur: Offices for councillors top agenda of JMC-Heritage

JAIPUR: After the second board meeting of JMC-Greater this year, JMC-Heritage has started preparing the agendas for their meeting. Although the date is not yet decided but preparations have begun.
According to the sources of the corporation, the main agenda is building office for the councillors in the city. Moreover, giving rent allowance to the councillors who don’t have their offices and have no space available in their ward to build one.
“Councillors have to meet hundreds of people every day. So, an office space is necessary, but they must be built on the corporation space. In some wards they are functioning in community halls but where there is no space rent will be given to them,” said a source of the corporation.
Another agenda will be to provide a package to the councillors in which they will take tours to different cities in the country like Chandigarh and Indore to understand the sanitation system. This will help the councillors to implement the same in Jaipur.
Last agenda includes purchasing new fire tenders for JMC-Heritage. Orders were given by the Rajasthan transport department regarding the ban on the use of 15 years old vehicles in Jaipur and two other cities. This will have an impact on the fire-tenders functioning at present, hence, corporation has decided to purchase new tenders.
In Jaipur, there are 24 fire tenders in JMC-Heritage and 42 in JMC-Greater. Around 12 fire tenders in JMC-Heritage are more than 15 years old and in JMC-Greater around 15 tenders are over 15 years old.
Officials in the corporation are now in confusion over the fate of these vehicles which are essential in emergency. When new tenders are purchased, things will become easier. There will be more agendas which are being discussed. The date of the meeting is yet to be decided but it is likely to be held in June first week.
