MUMBAI: Hitting out at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for raiding the premises linked to
Shiv Sena minister Anil
Parab over an alleged violation of environment norms at a resort, the Shiv
Sena on Saturday asked if the central agency would conduct raids on
Uttar Pradesh chief minister
Yogi Adityanath over pollution in the Ganga river due to floating dead bodies. The Sena, in its mouthpiece, said that it was now clear that Parab is being targeted by the ED and the Union environment ministry.
“At the end of a 12-hour ED raid, Parab confronted reporters and said, ‘the resort issue that led to the raid on me is not mine. It belongs to my friend Sadanand Kadam. The ED targeted him on an offence registered by the environment ministry alleging sewage from the resort was flowing into the sea’. Where does money laundering come from?”
According to Parab, the resort is not yet open, so how can the sewage go to the sea? “It is bizarre for the ED to conduct investigations into the resort's sewage flowing into the sea. If the issue is related to the environment or illegal discharge of sewage, then the ED should set up a special branch on the banks of Ganga-Yamuna. During the Covid period, not only sewage but thousands of decayed bodies were flowing in the Ganga. This caused great loss to the environment. The fact that the Ganga was completely polluted at that time, rather than the sewage flowing from the resort in Dapoli… this serious offence overlooked by the environmentalists, ED or the CBI is surprising. Now, will ED raid Yogi Adityanath over the pollution caused by the floating dead bodies in the Ganga,” the Sena asked in its mouthpiece Saamna.
The Sena said that the country’s investigative agencies and justice system need research at the global level. “Officials of a central investigative agency called ‘ED’, raided the residence and friends of state transport minister Anil Parab on Thursday. He said they interrogated him for 12 hours. In the last few days, not a few months, the name of Parab has been associated with Sai Resort in Dapoli. Parab claims with documentary evidence that he has no connection with the resort. However, it is now clear that Parab is being targeted by the ED and the Union environment ministry…,” the Sena said.
“The current actions of the central probe agencies are one-sided and abusive. A loud month and doused BJP leader makes threats in the name of ED, CBI and orders are issued accordingly. He was warned that he would be raided today, that he would be attacked tomorrow, that he would have to go to jail… by making such statements the credibility of the central government is diminished. Are central investigative agencies a puppet in the hands of the present BJP government? While these agencies are carrying out raids and arresting the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the Maharashtra police are cracking down on BJP cadres in cases of theft, treason, corruption and looting. But it seems the judiciary is taking pity on all of them and giving them all relief,” the Sena said.
