MYSURU: Mysuru District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), which grabbed the attention of Supreme Court judges for settling a 53-year-old property dispute through mediation in previous Lok Adalat, is trying its best to dispose of long-pending cases this time too.
Lok Adalat is scheduled to be held on June 25.
If things go according to the plans, another case pending for 35 years would be settled through mediation. It is a case related to a partnership in the liquor business between two parties. One of the parties didn't agree to the settlement in the previous Lok Adalat and decided to fight in the court.
Explaining the case, DLSA chairman ML Raghunath, who is Mysuru principal district and sessions judge, said on Friday that this is one among many cases pending for a long time. "This time we will try our best to end this litigation. Both the parties, after starting liquor business together, developed differences and then landed in court for settlement. Both the parties are alive and aged around 80 years," the judge informed.
Earlier, a 53-year-old property dispute case was settled with all 30 litigating parties agreeing to end the case. About 15 advocates have filed suits on behalf of the parties.
