PATNA:
RJD’s
Misa Bharti and Faiyaz Ahmad on Friday filed their nomination papers for biennial elections to
Rajya Sabha in presence of party chief
Lalu Prasad and his sons Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav.
However, there was resentment among some RJD workers loyal to late Mohammad
Shahabuddin for not sending his wife Hena Shahab to the Upper House. Hena said she would take suggestion from people of Bihar and work accordingly.
The two RJD candidates filed their nomination papers in the assembly. It was almost after six years that Lalu entered the assembly premises. The last time he had come to the assembly was in 2016 when Misa had filed her nomination for Rajya Sabha election for the first time.
There was excitement outside the assembly and 10, Circular Road residence of former CM Rabri Devi where thousands of RJD supporters had turned up to catch a glimpse of Lalu. Some like Natwar Yadav had come all the way from Mahua along with a buffalo and his friends. They had painted their body green to express solidarity with Lalu.
While ‘Lalu Yadav zindabad’ slogan rent the air, there was also a big resentment in the party with Shahabuddin’s loyalists from Siwan voicing their protest over denial of Rajya Sabha berth to Hena.
They also staged a dharna to register their protest.
The protesters said Hena would quit the party if the RJD continued to neglect her. “He (Lalu) can send his daughter to the Upper House, but not the madam (Hena). Why?” asked a Shahabuddin supporter.
Hena told TOI she would take future course of action after seeking suggestions from people of Bihar.
