Ludhiana: Personnel from
National Lok Adalat visited the municipal corporation zone D office on Friday for the attachment of its moveable and immoveable assets, including the official car of MC commissioner, one table and 10 chairs of her and the superintending engineer’s offices each. The National Lok Adalat had passed the orders to attach the assets in a case filed against the civic body by
Juhi Enclave residents. The residents had complained that the MC has failed to provide civic amenities in the colony despite repeated requests.
The court personnel returned after additional commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, zonal commissioner Jasdev Sekhon and secretary
Tajinder Panchi assured to complete the work and sought time.
Juhi Enclave Welfare Society members
Satish Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and Baldev Kumar said, “Our colony was established in 2005. It was handed over to the MC by Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (glada). The MC had laid sewage and water supply lines in the colony, but did not construct roads despite several requests. As a result, we are forced to live in a pathetic condition with dust all around due to kutcha roads.”
After the matter reached the National Lok Adalat, the court, on December 4, 2020, had asked the MC officials to construct roads and constitute three park management committees to handle the green belts in the colony. The MC was to complete this task in six months. But when the officials did not act, the residents again reached the National Lok Adalat and on May 25 the attachment orders were issued. The court will now take up the case on May 31.
Zonal commissioner JS Sekhon said, “A team from the National Lok Adalat had come to attach the MC properties at zone D. We told them that MC commissioner
Shena Aggarwal was not in the country. We have assured the court personnel that we will complete the rest of the work too. There was miscommunication between zones A and D. For, half of Juhi Enclave falls in zone A and the other half in zone D. This work will now be done on priority.”
Congress councillor Gurpreet Gopi said, “Recently, the MC had completed the water supply and sewerage line work in the colony at Rs 55 lakh. Now road work will be done.”
