JAIPUR/JAISALMER: Majority of the places witnessed a rise in its maximum temperatures on Thursday after heat wave conditions revived. Despite some showers and dust storm, the mercury kept moving north.
Bikaner was the hottest logging 43.6°C.
However, in
Jaisalmer three bodies — a male and two females — were recovered amid the scorching heat. Authorities suspected that all the three died of heat, thirst and hunger.
“We got information that a body of unidentified person was lying at the border of Mandai village. He was identified as Batulayak (38), a labourer from West Midnapore of West Bengal.
It was found that he moved towards the deserted area and got lost. It appears he died of thirst and hunger. However, the exact reason will be known only after post-mortem,” said Sukhdev Singh of Sangad police station of Jaisalmer. Two bodies of women were also found at Baba Bawdi area and at the railway station premises. Authorities believe that both died of heat stroke.
Meanwhile, Jaipur saw a maximum
temperature of 40.7°C. In the evening, mild showers and dust storm provide a temporary relief as within half-an-hour after the showers, majority of the places witnessed sultry conditions with higher humidity levels.
Jaipur Met office said temperatures will gradually start rising and from Friday, there is a possibility of complete revival of heat wave conditions.
Atttributing the rainfall and dust storm in the evening to the active western disturbances, Jaipur Met office said a few places in the eastern and western
Rajasthan are likely to get showers and dust storm on Friday.
