Nagpur: A lawyer from the city, who was suffering from post-Covid ailment, ended life by jumping into the Ambazari lake. The incident came to light around 8.30am on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Pravin Keshavrao Tapase (54, a resident of Chandan Nagar). He used to do notary and other court work at the district court premises, police said.
According to the police, morning walkers spotted a body in Ambazari lake in the morning and alerted the police control room. Personnel from Ambazari police station reached the spot and summoned firefighters from NMC’s fire and emergency services department. The firefighters fished out the body. On the basis of documents found in the pocket, the police identified Tapase.
Preliminary probe revealed that Tapase was not keeping well post-Covid and his health has deteriorated, affecting his profession too. “For the last couple of months, he had been under severe mental stress,” said the police.
He is survived by wife and two children — son is in Std III and elder daughter is an engineering student. Police have registered accidental death.
