Trichy Corporation to crack down on use of banned plastic products starting June 1

TRICHY: The Trichy City Corporation on Friday said it will crack down on the use of the banned plastic products starting June 1. It asked traders to stop using plastic items like carry bags and cups from June 1.
Anyone found selling them or hoarding them or using them will be fined. Also, the items will be seized.
The announcement comes following a meeting mayor Mu Anbazhagan had with traders on May 18.
The corporation advised traders and residents to use cloth bags (manja pai) and paper covers.
