Second half fightback sees Bulls down 14-man Pumas at Loftus

The Bulls came from behind against a 14-man Pumas to remain on top of the Currie Cup standings at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Friday.

The home side won 31-26 after trailing 12-26 at half-time.

The Pumas came with aggression, with Sebastian de Klerk tearing through the Bulls defence to score in the sixth minute.

De Klerk went on to score a hat-trick for the Pumas, while Eduan Swart also scored in the first half. While Eddie Fouche landed three conversions.

In the 33rd minute, the Pumas were reduced to 14-men as Tinus de Beer was shown a red card.

The Bulls came back firing in the second half as they scored five tries through Ruan Vermaak, James Verity-Amm, a penalty try and a brace by David Kriel.

Springbok legend Morne Steyn landed two conversions to give the Bulls an edge over the Pumas.

The Bulls claimed a bonus-point win in Pretoria to remain on top of the Currie Cup standings, while the Pumas remain fifth.

In next weekend's Currie Cup action, the Bulls have a bye, while the Pumas travel to Bloemfontein to take on the Cheetahs (Friday, 3 June - 18:00).
