NEP benefits Tamil Nadu students: PM Narendra Modi

Terming the event yet another glorious chapter in Tamil Nadu’s development journey, the Prime Minister said the Centre’s focus on road construction was clearly visible.
CHENNAI: Against the backdrop of the Tamil Nadu government’s opposition to theNational Education Policy(NEP), Narendra Modi sought to reinforce that the NDA government's NEP gave special importance to promoting Indian languages. “Due to a National Education Policy, technical and medical courses can be done in local languages. Youngsters from Tamil Nadu will benefit from this,” the PM said.
Terming the event yet another glorious chapter in Tamil Nadu’s development journey, the Prime Minister said the Centre’s focus on road construction was clearly visible. “We are doing so becauseit is directly linked to economicprosperity,” he said, pointing tothe Bengaluru-Chennai expressway, four elevated lane road connecting Chennai Port to Maduravoyal, expansion of the Neraluru to Dharmapuri and Meensurutti to Chidambaram section.
Modi expressed happiness over the redevelopment of five railway stations, which was beingdone keeping in mind the needsof the future. They will merge with local art and culture. On the Light House Project in Perumbakkam under the pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(Urban), Modi said the project was satisfactory since the first project had been realised in Chennai.
Foundation stone hadbeen laidfor Multi Modal Logistic Park in Chennai to boosteconomic growth and with a vision to make Chennai Port a hubof economic development. The Union government was committed to develop multi-modal logistic parks in other parts of the country, he said. “Each of theseprojects across various sectorswill boost job creation and our resolve to be aatma nirbhar,” the PM added. Speaking at the event, Stalin said Tamil Nadu was unique and its development was not just about economy but social justice, women’s development and equality.
His ‘Dravidian modelof governance’ had largely corrected the fiscal imbalance andrestructured the finances of thestate, said Stalin. Pointing toTN’s share of 9. 22% in India’sGDP, the chief minister soughtan increase in Centre’s contribution to the state’s schemes andfund allocation. “
